I went to the Rijks Museum whilst in Amsterdam and found a few sculptures and weapons which I felt were releveant to my project.
I looked at the spears and staffs, as I felt the in terms of costuming, my Fujin character could benefit from something like this. These kind of objects excert dominance and power, which could also help give my character more backstory.
The statues of the Roman Gods also give more indications abot how to physically express a deities traits, and how they were shown through art in the 16th and 17th centuries. Sol is the sun god, and this is shown by the encircling rays around his face. This oculd easily be interpreted as the basis for a makup, either with hairwork or creating a prosthetic piece. The plaque also tells us that the lion is the astrological symbol for the sun, which could also be informative when designing a makeup look.
Also, though they're not Japanese, I really like the Javanese arm cuffs as part of a costume idea. This could portray the Fujin as a strong warrior.
