Initial Thoughts

Initial Thoughts... (5th March)

Choosing a topic for this unit is very difficult. I know I want to focus on makeups in film and TV and focus on creating makeups for these contexts, but there are so many elements to look at that I'm not sure where to begin. So i've decided to record some initial thoughts and ideas so I can make selective decisions based on research, ideas and information.

Aliens? Aliens and physiognomy? What are aliens?

Characters for animation? Design and make maquaettes for animated purposes.....

Natural influences, bio-medical warfare...... Groot, Rock people in Noah......

Elements like moss, flowers, bark, rocks......

Create 4 looks based off the elements of fire, water, ground and air? Goddesses.....?

Mythical creatures? Gaurdians? Research into myths and legends......?

Egyptian influences? Gods and Goddesses? Indian/shinto gods? In shintoism there is a god for everything......

Greek gods?

How different eras/religions represent the elements? How different gods represent them?

DEITIES AND MYTHOLOGY

the dieties are at war? Evil and good personas? To make it relateable, have a hint of the element within them when they look 'normal' and then they transform into their full design....?

6th March

Reflecting back over this mood board the following day, I think I have an outline for my initial concept. I like the idea of designing 4 looks; one for earth, for air, for water and for fire. The inspirations and research for these designs will be influenced by mythology of various kinds. I don't want to narrow it down to just one type of deity (like Egyptian) but maybe pick a region/time period for each design, so I can look in-depth at 4 different areas. There are many to pick from, so I think from my research I will have to decide which elements from which area will translate best into a makeup design.
