TREND ANALYSIS

Trend analysis focuses on the most seen trends and fashions popular on the catwalks of fashion shows. They vary from season to season and can be forecast and predetermined by those who keep up to date. People keep up with trends in various ways, such as; going to fashion shows, reading fashion blogs and magazines or looking on makeup websites who do makeup for fashion shows (such as MAC). 

OFF COLOUR

- Classic tones with a dirty edge to become new neutrals

 

- Its about glowing skin and minimal makeup with some touches of colour

 

- Natural contours, bold lip or eye colour, glowing skin

 

- Minimal brows and mascara

These screen shots are from a video in which Gisel Calvillo (senior mua at MAC) explains the trend, Off Colour: " Taking a tone of colour and adding hint of grey to it, making it a little bit of a dirtier tone. Meaning in that sense that you've added a shade quality to the tone and so the colour doesn't become as pure as what you started with".

Streamlined

 

Using different strokes to make the eyes look wide. Eyes have a wide gestural quality to them that widens the eye. An architechtural liner frames the eyes in a look that sits between glamour and grunge.

Treatment 

 

This is a treament board/mood board I was sent for a fashion/editorial photoshoot to give me some inspiration and ideas as well as a better idea for the theme of the shoot. You can see from this that a lot of bright colours are involved against dark backgrounds giving them a neon like quality.

Makeup employs the skin's own shades to embrace authenticity in every form. This theme suggests we don't call makeup 'natural' anymore, but call it 'real' instead, because a barer-faced look is really speaking about the individual.
