Plasterline Facecast

After doing my ageing research, I though I'd try doing an ageing makeup on myself with greasepaints and concealer. This helped me see where my natural ageing lines would be so that when it comes to my sculpt, I have a better idea of what to sculpt where and how deep some lines need to be compared to others.

Although I didn't want to lose some of the natural texture from the plasterline, there were a lot of lines in my face which needed to be smoothed over and corrected so I could start sculpting on an accurate surface. I used a lot of lighter fluid and small pieces of clay to smooth over lumps and fill in the holes. I then started hollowing out around the eyes, nasolabial folds and slightly around the jowels. My mother also has a thin nose between the bridge and tip of her nose, so I thinned mine down slightly to add a more gaunt look. I then went in with a finer sculpting tool to start addind the finer detailed lines. Around the eyes, on the heavier

wrinkles, I added some very thin worms above the wrinkles, which I think helped to add more dimension. Once I was happy with it, I added some texture with a stipple sponge. i think overall my sculpt is quite accurate. I found focusing on an image of my mum while sculpting helped me create more realistic lines, rather than trying to guess. I think the right side of my face came out better, because I had a difficult time balancing the get to the finer detail on the left side of the sculpt, as I didn't want to lean on the plasterline.
