Brow Flatpieces

After I found out about the scopas parting agent, I decided to sculpt the brows onto the face and then float them off. This enabled to me to create a more accurate sculpt, as I can see how the brows wil actually sit and fit on my model's face. I just painted a layer on the plaster face cast and then sculpted over it. I did find that if i scraped the face with a sculpting tool, then the parting agent would lift off or peel slightly, but otherwise it was fine. Once I'd got the sculpt to about 90% finished, I put it in cold water until the clay pieces floated off. I didn't actually realise that you're meant to leave it for about 30 minutes, so I used my fingers to push them off the face cast slgihtly. Luckily this didn't damage the sculpt and I transferred them to a flat surface, finished the sculpt and did the grounding.

I decided to mould the brows seperately, because if I chose to run them in bondo for my assesment, then the application would be easier. The moulds came out well, although with hindsight, I could've made the grouding thinner and lower, which would've meant I wouldn't have used as much silicone. I think they're neater than my first attempt though and I know how to improve them in future. After cleaning them out and applying a layer of vaseline, I started applying the layers of proplastic plus. I did about 4 layers, maybe 5 because I really didn't like how the silicone seeped through my first flat pieces where the layers tore. I then poured in the silicone. I did 12.5grams of part and, the same for part B and then 25grams for part C so it was 100% deadened. Again, I didn't like how squidgey my first flatpieces were, and they were 200% deadened. I also think the brow bone is a slightly more solid area, so if the pieces are more deadened, it won't matter that they don't have as much movement. Even though I thought i'd made both pieces identically, one came out fine while the silicone in the right brow piece got stuck in the mould somehow. I don't understand how, as I was careful to do so many layers of the proplastic plus.

I ran the right eyebrow again, the same way, with even more layers of proplastic plus and this time it came out perfectly. I realise now that I put in slightly more silicone pigment than I did for the other brow, but I'm going to paint over them both anyway, so it won't be noticeable.
