TO DO FOR SUMMATIVE ASSESMENT

  • Re-run brow pieces

  • Re-run nose, this time doing 3 coats of mould release following the correct method

  • Make another bald cap the same as before

  • Clean wig from spirit gum and makeup

  • Finish styling the wig

  • Trim down moustache

Formative Assesment

- Bald Cap - Worked better than I'd expected. I had to trim it around his brows to fit his face better, but I can alter the size for the summative. I also need to pull it tighter so it fits more snugly, but the anchor points worked pefectly and were invisible under the wig.

- Wig - Fitted my model really well which is great. I couldn't glue the bald cap down or the wig around my model's facial hair (which will be gone before the summative) but aside from that it looked good. I'm very happy with the hairline and I think its a good length on him to now style fully without the need for further cutting.

- Brows - Although I think the brows are accurate and they blended quite well, they don't actually cover all of my model's own eyebrows. So for the summative I will cover the outer ends of his brows with wax before applying them flat pieces.

- Nose - While I think the shape and fit of the nose is fundamentally fine, the edges really didn't come out well at all. Obviously I am going to re-run the nose again in silicone and try and get a better piece for the summative that will produce better edges.

- Moustache - Obviously I couldn't actually apply my moustache to my model due to his facial hair, but by holding it up I can see that I definatley need to trim it down a bit, as compared to the portrait it comes up far too high on my model's face.

- Paint - As far as painting my model, I think foundation and greasepaint works fine but I need to obviously cover the whole face and feedback suggests I need more contrast, so I will definately do that for my summative.

Overall I think my formative assesment went well. There was nothing drastically wrong and everything that wasn't great, I can improve on and know what I need to do to make better. I was happy to see everything come together, all the different elements, to create one whole makeup. As I added each element, I could slowly see my model looking more like the portrait which was really reassuring to see that I'd captured the essence of the painting.
