Creative CV or Business CV?
Research

- I really like this CV layout. It's slightly unusual, and therefore memorable. It includes an image of yourself which I think is very helpful when applying for jobs, particularly in a such a personable industry where putting names to faces is important. It shows design awareness and an eye for layout. Its very precise and succinct and could easily be edited or altered slightly to fit an individuals needs.
I notice this CV also has links to Jane Smith's facebook and twitter accounts, which means I should definately look at including my instagram and facebook MUA page, as they showcase my work and are regularly updated.

- These images are all from an online article entitled 30 Brilliant Creative Resumes. Honestly before researching, it had never occurred to me that resumes could or should even be anymore than black and white words on paper. Initially I though all these resumes looked creative and were a good idea. However, in the comments section of the article, a few people mentioned that they were "unuseful in real life" and that it appears that the person to whom the CV belongs is trying to hide behin something. Reflecting on that, I can now see that some of them are overcrowded and too busy. The 2 left CVs to me look like flyers or advertisments rather than a CV, and the reader's eye becomes so overcrowded that they don't know what to focus on or where the key information is. I think the top right CV seems a bit unprofessional and a bit too "clip-arty" and childish. The bottom right one is quite clear still and very eye-catching, but again, the information is not as clearly laid out. I don't think these CVs are as effective as the first CV in my research.
Although I want my CV to be eye-catching, I also want it to be professional, and not for the CV to distract from my achievements. I think for the context of the industry, it would also be prudent to include images of my work along with my CV on a seperate printed page, as I remember David White mentioning that at the prosthetics even last year.
In Class Examples
These images are examples of leaflets and promotional materials that could be interpreted and utiised for CV reference purposes.

All of these are very creatively styled promotional materials. Again, I worry that a lot of them look too much like advertisements or fliers for a CV, and don't maintain an air of professionalism.
This one on the left is laid out in quite a professional manner, although I don't really like the faded drawing in the background, as its not a very well done drawing and distracts from the main information. I generally find small images less professional looking also, as they give a cramped appearance. The typeface works because it is emboldened on key information, such as "Achievements" which I think is a good idea as it makes locating information easier.
Although I like the aesthetic of this one of the right, I think because of the scatty hand-writing, it makes relaying information less obvious. However, I like the section division.

This CV on the left utilises cut-outs as a unique design feature as well as folding out. It also has a colour scheme, though I think the layout and typeface choices are poor.
This CV (right) has a specific design layout which I think is appropriate for a leaflet, but maybe too much for a CV.

(Above) This features cerrated sections that can be torn away, which is helpful in some circumstances, though I can't see how that could be applicable to a CV, as they would surely want all your information at once at any given time.
I can see how this CV (above) shows the thought process behind the scenes, but I don't think I would include this for a CV, though maybe for a creative progress page on my unit blog or something.

This was my CV that I wrote out in May of this year. I sent it to several companies along with a hand-written letter and image of my work, but received no response. I am going to re-draft it and lay it out in the style of the first example from my research to see how effectively I feel it represents me. I will also re-order it according to Carolyne's lecture on CV presentation, as this will lay out the information correctly.

I need to edit my CV in order to include my specific makeup experience of photoshoots, plays and films i've worked on.

New CV

I then re-ordered my headings so that they were according to Carolyne's advice. I have also subsequently bought my domain name for my professional website and added this in, as well as professional work experiences. A lot of people said they weren't a fan on including a photo of yourself on your CV, so instead I replaced it with my logo. I used some blue text for the headings because blue is now a slight running theme within my promotional work.
