Nick Dudman

- important to know your strengths and weaknesses

- Dennis penkoff (great mould maker) MESSAGE HIM

- penny dreadful, the set was a mess but it was built up from scratch. Beautiful studios are very rare

- mortuary bodies: cast in silicone and run in plasterline. Did in g-string and then sculpted in the rest

- prosthetics is all about detail.

- first rule of bald caps: don't do one. Always ask to shave their head

- thick silicone feet soles so he could walk about in winter safely

- prosaid will cause pieces to sweat white liquid unless it's bone dry. Telesis will cause small gas pockets which need to be solved

- over the collar bone is a good place to put an edge as its a darker place to blend. BARE THESE THINGS IN MIND

- think about males beard re-growth. Edges along this area will be pushed up by re-growing hair

- always have soft teeth and no lenses in for fight scenes as its too dangerous

- 8 hours for the witches makeups with 40 prosthetic flatpieces

- hair wrapping for bald caps, hair at the back must go up so glue the back of the hair up. Glue back telesis in the front of the hair about 3cms

- plat gel bald caps: the position of the person when you lifecast them and the position the person is in when you apply it. Also take them down to below the neck at the back. If it ends at the top of the shoulders then the tension will work better and make softer creases. Add a separate piece over the edge at the front of the bald cap to cover the edge

- monster clay is nice for thin pieces

- broad range of skills, be ok at a range of things. Assistants: people that fit in, presentable, clean and calm. USEFUL

DO YOUR RESEARCH ABOUT COMPANIES

Say if you don't know CALMLY. Don't claim to do things you can't

- VARIETY in portfolio. Careful with photoshop.....

- prosaid cream for laying loose hair beards

- contact people directly, go through the the production office..... Go to website. There's no specific protocol, pester people

Companies and Industry

Lifecast Elstree TV and Film Studio, do everything from fabrication, creatures, props and prosthetics. I emailed them previously and was told I was being considered for a position. I then emailed again after waiting awhile and was told they took on quite a lot of experience, so I may try contacting them again before finishing university.
